Frequently asked questions
What is the VAT rate in Saudi Arabia?
The standard VAT rate in Saudi Arabia is 15%, in effect since 1 July 2020. Some supplies are zero-rated or exempt under the VAT implementing regulations.
How do I calculate VAT from a total that already includes VAT?
Divide the total by 1.15 to get the net amount, then subtract it from the total. For SAR 1,150 the net is SAR 1,000 and the VAT is SAR 150.
How do I add VAT to a price?
Multiply the net price by 0.15 to get the VAT and add it, or multiply the net price by 1.15 to get the total directly.
Does this calculator replace ZATCA e-invoicing?
No. It is for quick checks. Tax invoices in Saudi Arabia must be issued through a ZATCA-compliant e-invoicing solution.
